CNBC's Jim Cramer on Friday guided investors through the upcoming earnings-packed schedule on Wall Street, saying to focus on reports from companies such as Uber , Disney and Warner Bros. Since April's labor report was weaker than expected, he said investors can worry less about the Federal Reserve's next move. Monday brings earnings from Simon Property Group and Tyson Foods , the latter of which Cramer said he thinks could be a "bounce-back play." Wynn Resorts and Reddit also release earnings that day, and Cramer said he thinks both could put up solid numbers. Cramer will be paying attention to Uber's report on Wednesday, saying he wonders whether its earnings will be hurt by competition from Lyft .

Heightened geopolitical tensions have triggered volatility in crude oil prices, but one strategist is looking keenly for opportunities in the energy sector. Stephen Ellis, energy and utilities strategist at Morningstar, said oil market volatility does present challenges and urged investors to be patient, which "regularly pays off within energy." Brent crude oil prices were trading around $86.50 on Apr. 'Quality' names within energy Ellis said he searches for quality names when selecting stocks in the energy space. "All of these are 'moaty' firms that have some upside to our fair value estimates, even in a period of high oil prices," Ellis explained.

The Department of Justice has weighed in on a court battle over an oil and gas pipeline in Wisconsin, saying that a Canadian oil company has been willfully trespassing on tribal lands in the state for more than a decade. On Wednesday, lawyers for the Justice Department filed a brief saying that the company, Enbridge, “lacks any legal right to remain” on the land, part of a reservation of the Bad River Band, an Ojibwe group. But the brief largely sidestepped the question of whether a 1970s treaty between the United States and Canada gives Enbridge the right to operate the pipeline indefinitely, as the company asserts. Enbridge is fighting demands by state, tribal and judicial authorities to shut down the pipeline known as Line 5, which crosses 645 miles of Wisconsin and Michigan, in lawsuits pending in federal appellate court in each state. Environmentalists in both states have raised concerns about the deteriorating condition of Line 5 and the company’s proposals to shore it up.

Investors seeking some stability in their portfolios may want to consider high-quality dividend stocks, especially those with a track record of steady income payments. Here are three attractive dividend stocks, according to Wall Street's top experts on TipRanks, a platform that ranks analysts based on their past performance. Nonetheless, PepsiCo announced a 7% hike in its annualized dividend to $5.42 per share, effective with the dividend payable in June 2024. CNBC's Jim Cramer on Wednesday said artificial intelligence is going to be essential to big market rallies over the next few years. But the computing power needed to run AI-enabled machines is "at the heart of the current re-industrial revolution," Cramer said, and will bring stocks from a variety of sectors with it. The amount of construction needed to build new data centers is part of the reason stocks like Caterpillar are performing well, he said. And according to Cramer, power management company Eaton is also seeing gains because of the demand to help power grids deal with all of this excess electricity. Vertiv is doing well because it helps take care of wiring in data centers, he added.

While over the years the pipeline's start date has been moved further back, supply has kept coming. Light synthetic crude from the oil sands, another key Canadian grade, is trading close to its deepest discount since 2020. With Canada exporting around 3.8 million bpd via pipelines, each additional dollar the discount widens amounts to millions in lost revenues for oil companies, analysts say. Conventional oil and gas producers will drill 8% more wells in 2024 to take advantage of greater access to pipelines including Trans Mountain. Rail exports hit 145,000 bpd in September, nearly doubling from May, according to latest data from the Canada Energy Regulator.

Solar stocks could rebound in the second half of 2024 after taking a beating this year, though the industry's recovery depends largely on whether the Federal Reserve raises interest rates again. The rally comes as the residential solar industry looks toward the end of a rough year, with demand softening significantly as repeated rate hikes made installations unattractive for consumers. "The big headwind is interest rates," said Julien Dumoulin-Smith, a stock analyst who covers clean energy for Bank of America. Inventory problem The residential solar companies misread the market this year after a record 2022. The residential solar stocks will probably be broadly revisited on the buyside sometime around the spring of 2024, Blanchard said, though this also depends on what the Federal Reserve does with interest rates.

REUTERS/Chris Helgren/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNov 3 (Reuters) - Pipeline operator Enbridge (ENB.TO) on Friday beat third-quarter profit estimates, benefiting from transporting higher volumes of oil and other liquids. Calgary, Alberta-based Enbridge moves about 30% of the crude oil produced in North America, and nearly 20% of the natural gas consumed in the United States. Mainline system transports light and heavy crude oil, natural gas liquids, and refined products from Edmonton, Alberta to various markets in Canada and the U.S. Midwest. In September, the company announced a $14 billion bid for Dominion Energy's (D.N) three utility assets, to create North America's largest gas utility platform. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal government bought Trans Mountain in 2018 for C$4.5 billion to rescue the expansion project, which has struggled with years of regulatory delay and massive cost overruns. A Reuters survey of five analysts and investors valued Trans Mountain between C$15 billion and C$25 billion, based on factors including projected earnings and oil shipping tolls. Trans Mountain Corp (TMC) CEO Dawn Farrell told local media last week the sale could wrap up by early 2025, just as Canada heads into a federal election. Trans Mountain offers strategic value as it is the only pipeline taking crude from Canada's oil patch to the Pacific, and on to Asian refining markets. "It's hard to imagine...that a pipeline like Trans Mountain would ever be built again," Poscente said.

The hubs are networks of hydrogen producers and consumers that will use local infrastructure to accelerate the deployment of clean hydrogen. The Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub that involves parts of Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey will receive a $750 million grant, according to the sources familiar with the forthcoming announcement. The Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (ARCH2) that includes western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia will also receive one of the grants, according to two sources. The 2021 bipartisan infrastructure bill allocated up to $7 billion to launch the initiative, called the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs program, which will help fund six to 10 regional clean hydrogen hubs across the U.S. Each of the proposed regional hub projects involve dozens of partners from energy companies, academia and local and state governments.

"I think there is evidence out there that for the right transaction for the right reasons, investors will show up," said François Carrier, co-head of Desjardins Capital Markets. But not many dealmakers are expecting a rush of supply with an uncertain macroeconomic environment still keeping secondary equity markets volatile. The shares dropped well below their first-day high, potentially limiting a comeback in Canadian equity capital raisings and IPOs. "We do not have enough data to declare the IPO market open. Our own view is that we are still 12 to 18 months away from a robust IPO market," he added.

Its startup could add as much as $2 per barrel to prices paid by U.S. Midwest oil refineries that sit along Canada's existing main oil-export route. "They will be competing for barrels that no longer transit through their region," said a Calgary-based oil trader. That has left Canadian oil producers vulnerable to deep price discounts or "blowouts" whenever pipelines become congested or rupture. The start-up of TMX could add a "buck or two" to the cost of a barrel for Midwest refiners, he estimates. So far this year, over 200,000 bpd of Canadian crude has been re-exported from the U.S. Gulf Coast, up from about 73,000 bpd in 2019, Kpler data showed.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Indigenous tribes in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin have asked federal officials to deny a utility's request for a loan to help build a natural gas-fired power plant on the shores of Lake Superior, calling the project unthinkable in the face of climate change. Chippewa tribes located across the northern third of the three states sent a letter to U.S. Department of Agriculture officials on Sunday asking them to deny Dairyland Power Cooperative's request for a $350 million public loan. The request is intended to cover the utility's share of the cost of building the Nemadji Trail Energy Center power plant. Dairyland Power Cooperative, Minnesota Power and Basin Electric Cooperative have been working to gain permission to build the $700 million power plant for more than three years. The tribes also noted that the new plant would be situated near a cemetery where about 180 Fond du Lac tribal members are buried in a mass grave.

The deal is seen as a bet on the future of natural gas in a regulated market even as energy companies and consumers are transitioning to a greener future by phasing out fossil fuels. But some analysts were surprised at the timing, the scale and impact such a deal would have on the company's already leveraged balance sheet. Enbridge struck the deal just over a month after CEO Greg Ebel told analysts the company saw 'tuck-in' acquisition opportunities 'across the board'. By late morning, Enbridge shares were down 5.5% at C$45.50, while the benchmark Canadian share index was off 0.5%. Enbridge is selling new shares at a discount of 7.2% to its Tuesday close to part-fund the transaction.
